Louise Averett Steward passed away peacefully at home with her family on Monday, May 15, 2023, at the ripe age of 90.
Louise, of Odessa, Texas was born on July 14, 1932, in Trickham, TX in Coleman County, Texas to Robert Crawford Averett and Bryson Dial Averett.
She married Raymond Steward on January 21,1951 in San Angelo, TX and remained married for 55 years until his passing in 2006. While Raymond served in the Korean War, Louise worked with Southwestern Bell for 3 years. She served in Beta Sigma Phi through the 70’s, 80’s, and 90’s. She also served as one of Medical Center Hospital’s Pink Ladies.
Louise was a proud opinionated mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and great-great grandmother that loved her family boldly.
Louise is preceded in death by her husband, Raymond Fondren Steward, her parents, sisters, Evelyn McClelland and Ann Motl, and a brother, John Earl Averett.
She is survived by her three children, Ronnie Averett Steward of Odessa, Judy Wideman and husband Mel of Odessa, Karen Steward Echols and husband, Eric of Chandler, AZ; a brother, Jack Averett of San Antonio, TX, grandsons, Ronald Scott Steward and wife, Misty of Midland and Kyle Wayne Steward of Odessa; great grands, Kade Parson and wife Keeyanna of Midland, Jackson Steward, and Kylie Jade., both of Midland; great-great grandson, Jaylen Parson; and her adopted daughter, Odie Alvarado. Louise was also survived by many nieces, nephews, cousins, uncles and Steward in-laws.
Arrangements are entrusted to Sunset Memorial Gardens and Funeral Home. Graveside services will be held at 10:00 AM, Tuesday, May 23, 2023, with a memorial service to follow in the chapel at 11:00 AM.
