Tomás Sutón was born in Ranger, Texas to Howard Sutton and Erma Ball on December 22, 1937. He went to school at Ranger High School, and attended Ranger College, where he played football, Texas A&M University-Commerce, The University of Southern Mississippi, and graduated from California Coast University with a Ph.D in Psychology. He worked as a teacher and coach in various locations and as Director of Clinical Services at Texas Youth Commission in Pyote, Texas. He also had a private practice in Psychometrics, Counseling and Mediation. He was an Army Veteran and served in the National Guard. He was a proud patriot and a proud Texan.

Tomás loved the Lord and was a devoted Christian. He was very involved with the Church most of his life. He was a caring, generous, hard-working man who loved his family.  He was honest, loyal, and giving, always willing to help anyone in need. Later in life he discovered his passion for writing and poetry, which he used to write four books. Perseverance, dedication and work ethic are some of the values he practiced all his life and the values he sought to instill in his children.

He is survived by his wife, Socorro Sutón; his children, sons, Brian Sutton and wife Angie, Jason Sutton and wife Susie, Tomy Sutón, and Luis Carlos Caro and wife Sofía; daughters, Katherine Sutton, and Ana Darlin and husband Ryan Darlin; three grandchildren, Hannah Adams and husband Logan, Holden Sutton and wife Jaicee, and Isabella Darlin; one great grandson, Wynnings Sutton; sisters, Beverly Sutton and Sharon Rogers; and many nieces and nephews.
